Good advise. I have other suggestion in case any boat aerator pump goes bad during tournament as this have happened to me recently at my local tournament, 2 of my catch in the livewell wasn’t going to survive before the weigh-in. I found that the aerator pump wasn’t working so as a back up is by opening (drain while on the water) the livewell to remove all the waste into the lake about half way then go to deep water (cooler) and other aerator pumps in fresh water. These method saved my day and all of fish that day. I ordered a new pump that same evening and all is well now. Also I recommend everyone to have aerator timer switch installed in their boat. This type of switch will leave aerator off for 3 mins then runs for 30-45 sec. all day long and will not drain your battery. It a must have especially in the summer.

I have add comment to, IF deep hook bass tongue. and if bleeding I use the Hydrogen Peroxide pour into bass mouth abit and do not too much . it will less bleeding. And also if broken or drain out the battery 2oz of Hydrogen Peroxide every 10 gallons, give more oxgyenize. Thank you Chris Jones

bigbuck326 I sure hope nobody would try your suggestion because 2oz per 10 gallons is OVERKILL resulting all dead fish! Everyone please do not try that or you will bring dead fish to the weigh in station. One to two capfulls per live well is enough but I still would not recommend using them, at all. A little too much will harm the fish’s gills and no way would I pour them in the fish’s mouth!

“Another chemical that has sometimes been used to treat livewell or holding-tank water is hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Hydrogen peroxide breaks down into oxygen and water in the presence of organic material. However, this chemical can injure fish and should not be used. Most people have used this colorless, odorless, tasteless liquid to disinfect a cut or scratch. You can see it fizzing and bubbling on the skin as it oxidizes. Now imagine what it does in a livewell full of bass. The bass’ mucus coating protects its skin from the oxidation reaction, but there is no such protective coating on the delicate gill filaments. Unfortunately, anglers who use hydrogen peroxide often think that if a little is good, a little more should be better. Wrong! Damage to gill filaments, suffocation and death may result.
Do not use hydrogen peroxide in the livewell!”
